From Protests to Riots!
Submitted by Jo on 12/08/2011
A few months ago this area of Bristol was subject to the protests of the new Tesco's opening up.
This past week, it has now been subjected to riots, as has also been seen in several other cities in the UK. While things certainly were not as bad in Bristol as they were in London, there were still windows smashed, a few shops looted and a police presence. This has now subsequently died down, however with the weekend approaching there are fears that there will be more rioting.
"We'll continue to have a lot of police on the streets to reassure the public and to make sure nothing further happens," from Rob Barker of the Avon and Somerset Police.
